I remember when I was a kid. I had these nifty boxes of crayons, and the only difference between one and the other was that one was 24 colors and the other was a humongous box of 64 colors! And it came with its own sharpener at the back, too! I wallowed in the exotic names I've never heard of--cornflower blue, periwinkle, lavender, etc.
A few days ago, I entered a kid's shop. No, not shopping for my own kid but for my upcoming nephew who'll make his entrance in November. Aside from the usual coloring books, tumblers, kids' shirts, etc were tons and tons and tons of types of crayons. There was the Twistable Crayons, something like our twistable eyeliner, which don't need to be sharpened. Then there's the crayons that come in a mix of three colors per stick, ensuring a child's interest with the kaleidoscope of colors. There's the Triangular Crayola for better grip, Washable Crayola that comes off your skin and child's clothing, and there are the crayons where you can either blend or mix the colors. When you choose blend, two colors become one, i.e. red and white becomes pink. When you mix, the two colors are still two, but when you draw, you're holding just one stick/marker.
All right, I have to stop or this post is going to be very long. No, I'm not a Crayola agent, but when I was in that shop this afternoon, I was transported back to a magical world wherein I was a child again and I have all these wonderful "pens" to unleash my creativity. I was tempted to buy them for myself, actually, but I was able to walk out of the shop without purchasing anything, as they aren't suitable for my nephew yet. However, I may go back one day, and who knows? I may come out with a Crayola pack. :)

I soooo loved the big 64 box with the built in sharpener. I would've had a hard time leaving without picking up some of this new stuff. No I don't color anymore but, dang, crayolas bring back memories.
Yup, they sure do, Regina. :)
I like the biggest crayola box and I like playdough. Especially the smell. Now I want to go to a toy store and buy a box of crayons and a four-pack of playdough.
Julia, I agree. Nothing like the smell of a new box of crayola.
